Candidate Preparation for Assessment
How to Prepare for Psychometric Testing
As a job candidate, it is important to know about the assessment process that you will be undertaking. This section provides information about how assessment works, why it is important and how to prepare for it. You can access practice questions through this page.
Why is testing important? Why am I doing it?
Organisations use psychometric testing as part of their process because it adds objectivity to the selection process and provides information about how you might typically act and perform on the job. Assessments are not the ‘be all and end all’ of the recruitment process. Rather, they help to improve the validity or ‘soundness’ of the information on which decision makers will base their final decision. They also provide information that may help you to perform better on the job.
The selection decision is made using information from your CV, interviews, reference checks, assessments, and other tools used during the process. Therefore it is important to treat each step as an important part of the process. Remember, the assessment step is only one part of the process and is taken into consideration with all of the other information gathered from the sources mentioned above.
How does the process work with Talent Technologies?
The process varies depending on the assessments you are being asked to complete. You will be informed by your recruitment consultant or by a Talent Technologies consultant of the process that applies to you.
